  • Then, you need to add your phone number and allow Alexa access to it. You will receive a verification code which you need to respond.
  • After you have completed the wizard, you would be able to see a contact icon and select this Contact icon to see who also has Alexa among your phone contacts. You can perform Alexa to Alexa calls to anyone you see there.

How to make a call with your Amazon Echo?

Either you can make Alexa to Alexa call or “break out” and call a landline or a mobile phone depending on your choice.

  • You can use your Amazon Echo or the Alexa app. In order to make a call with your Echo, just say “Alexa, call NAME of the Contact” to call someone in your phone contacts or “Alexa, call Particular NUMBER” to call a specific phone number.
  • As long as the name of the contact is in your phone contacts list, Alexa should call their Alexa app.
  • In case, if you are making a call to a non-Alexa user or calling a number, then obviously they don’t have to be in your contacts. You just need to say “Alexa, call 001-111-1111” or whatever the number is and Alexa will call it.
  • If you want to call from the Alexa app instead, then you need to select the conversation screen and select the Contact icon in the top-right, select the contact Amazon Echo and select the phone icon. In order to make a video call, select the camera icon.

How to answer a call with your Amazon Echo?

If you receive a call on your Echo, you can also receive the call on your Alexa app.

  • The light ring on the Echo should turn green and you will get notified for the call by Alexa. For answering the call using the Echo, you need to say “Alexa answer call.”
  • If you want to answer the call using the app, just answer your phone as normal.
  • If you are busy and don’t have to take the call, you can say “Alexa, ignore” and it will do that.
  • If you don’t want to answer from the app, then you just need to let your phone ring out.

How to Send Voice Messages with Alexa?

Voice messages are another awesome feature of the Alexa app that allows the users to send an audio message to someone. Alexa app voice messages are like pre-recorded voicemails and these are very useful for quick updates or messages when you don’t have time for a full phone call.

  • In order to send a voice message using your Echo, say “Alexa, send [NAME] a message” and speak your message out loud.
  • For sending a voice message via the Alexa app, open the conversation window and select the blue microphone icon instead of the phone icon to record a message.
  • Alexa receives the message in the same manner as it receives a call, the Alexa app will alert your phone and your Echo will glow. You can either listen to the message right away or save it for later.
