What to Do When Your iBooks Store is Not Working?

iBooks is a prominent e-book reading and store application developed by Apple for its iOS and Mac devices. It is a platform where users can purchase and read digital books. Reading with their devices via the Apple Books or iBooks App is the one thing which is loved by the Apple users. Because there is no need to spend extra money on buying a separate e-reader device. You can access the iBookstore from the app, which features millions of books. What you all need to have is an iPhone or iPad with an Apple ID, and you don’t need to go to a bookshop or library to buy a book. You can browse through the bookshelves to find the book of your interest. Then, you can purchase and download the book using the Apple ID account. The best thing is that, with the convenience of iCloud, you can access the books from all other devices without even losing the page.

Sometimes, users complain about the iBook store not working on their iDevices properly. In this article, you will learn what to do when your iBookstore is not working.

Prerequisite for Troubleshooting-

It would be much better to check a couple of things before you get into the troubleshooting process.

  • The first thing that you need to ensure is that your Cellular Data access for iBooks is turned on as it could get disabled after an iOS update.
  • The other thing which you need to do is to visit Apple’s System Status Page. Like any other technology, it can also go down occasionally. So, it is better to have a check on this also.

After you have checked both, you can try out these methods.

Log out from Your iCloud Account-

Many times, simply restarting or logging out from account helps. So, it is better to try out this step before moving further. Log out of your iCloud account to see if this helps.

  • First, go to the Settings.
  • Find the option iTunes and App Store and tap on it.
  • Then, tap on your Apple ID.
  • After that, click the option Sign Out.
  • Now, check if you are able to access iBooks Store.

Check Restrictions on Your iPhone or iPad-

Although Restrictions is a great feature on the iPhone or iPad, it could be annoying at times. In case, if you have mistakenly restricted the iBooks application, then you need to change the settings to access it.

  • First of all, open Settings on your iPhone/iPad.
  • Then, tap on the option Screen Time.
  • After that, locate the option Content and Privacy Restrictions.
  • Next, tap Allowed Apps and search out for the option Books. Make sure that this option is not restricted or toggled off in the settings.

Reset the Location and Privacy Setting-

Sometimes, resetting your Location and Privacy is helpful in resolving the iBooks Store issue. After you reset this setting, you will find that all your apps immediately stop using your location. So you need to permit them again via Location Services.

  • Go to Settings and tap on the General option, then scroll to the bottom and tap the Reset option.
  • Now, you will find the option Reset Location and Privacy. You need to tap on it and also provide passcode if required. Then, wait and let the process complete.
  • When the process is completed, you need to open the iBookstore to see if your issue is resolved.

You also need to grant permission to the apps by going into the Privacy Settings.

Check Date and Time of Your iPhone or iPad-
