This issue needs to be resolved as it is not just frustrating, but can be quite expensive, especially if you have to keep changing VPNs. There are some issues that occur when Amazon Prime VPN is not working include constant disconnections, DNS leaks, and other errors that may arise from proxies, or user information, among others. Here , in this article, we will discuss what to do if Amazon Prime VPN not working. So, have a look on the steps to resolve these issues.

Initial Checks-

  • First of all, you need to ensure that you are not connected to another VPN before you proceed to the next solutions. So, you may try to close any other VPN programs if you have running before using your Amazon Prime VPN.
  • After checking the VPN programs, you also need to check that your antivirus or firewall software are not the reason behind the connection errors. Sometimes, these may affect connection. You can disable them and then try to reconnect to your VPN to access Amazon Prime. If the disabling works for you, then add your VPN as an exception before you enable your security software again.
  • Don’t forget to check that your internet connection is active by disconnecting from your VPN and try accessing the website regularly.
  • You can try to connect to the server location nearest to your location. If this works, then the issue is with the server location you tried to connect to earlier.
  • Try to fix the issue by changing your DNS, or switching to a different network. Use a different network, like a public Wi-Fi connection, to see if the connection problem is with your current Internet service.

Update the VPN App-

After checking all the points mentioned above, you need to update the VPN app. To do this follow the steps given below:

  • Log in to your VPN account and set up your VPN.
  • After setting up, select the device platform you are using like Windows.
  • Then, download the latest version of your VPN for Windows.
  • At last, set up and connect the VPN app and see if it starts working with Amazon Prime again.

Change the VPN Protocol-

Usually, the VPN connection functions better when TCP is used instead of UDP. Your device connects to the VPN servers using VPN protocols, the default one being the UDP protocol, which in some regions is blocked. Follow the steps given below to the protocol:

  • For optimal performance, first you need to choose the ‘OpenVPN TCP’.
  • Then, select the L2TP next and finally choose PPTP protocols. Use PPTP whenever necessary to do so as it offers minimal security.
  • Next, go to your VPN settings window while disconnected from the VPN.
  • At last, under the ‘Protocol’ tab, select the protocol you want to use and click ‘OK’ button.

TLS Handshake & Network Connection Issue:-

  • In case, if you get errors related to the TLS handshake and network connection, then reboot your machine and start your VPN connection again. If the issue still persists, then change the protocol, or try disabling your antivirus and firewall programs.
  • If you are unable to connect to a server location even after restarting your VPN, then reinstall the VPN, and run the installation program again. If you still face Amazon Prime VPN not working issues, then check if ‘RasDialException’ appears in your connection log, and if it does, then reset the Winsock.
Incorrect system date and time:-

Sometimes, incorrect date and time are also the reason behind the connect issues to Amazon Prime with your VPN. So, you need to check the date and time of your system and ensure it is correct. If it is wrong, follow the steps given below:

  • Firstly, right click the ‘Date and Time’ display on your taskbar.
  • Next, click ‘Adjust date and time settings’.
  • After that, click ‘Date and time’ tab.
  • Then, slide to switch off Set time automatically and click ‘Change’ under the ‘Change Date and Time’ and enter password if prompted.
  • In case, if you need to change the time zone, then click the ‘Change time zone…’ and select your current time zone in the drop-down list.
  • Then, click OK.
  • Now, restart your VPN and connect to a server location. If you cannot connect after restarting, reinstall your VPN again by running the installation program once more.

No IP or Host not found-

In case, if you get the error: ‘Requested name is valid but does not have an IP address’ or ‘Host not found’, then ensure that you are connected to the internet. If you have to activate your DSL connection manually before going online, refer to your DSL instructions before you connect to your VPN. The VPN is not a replacement to your internet connection.

Even after reconnecting to your VPN, if you still get Amazon Prime VPN not working issues, then your ISP may be blocking access to the VPN’s DNS servers. In that case, you have to manually set DNS servers as shown below:
